Metadata is the super important information that you need to add to your MP3’s. In fact, most of the opportunties require you to have this done in order for your music to be considered for a brief, and if you’re a higher-tier member you will need to have done your metadata in order to receive feedback on your tracks.
We’ve already discussed what metadata is and how you manage your metadata, so read up on these if you’ve got no idea what metadata is first!
It’s important that you fill out as many fields on the metadata form as possible, in order for our Sync team to have all the information they need as soon as they need it. If you submit your track to an urgent project and we don’t have the details we need from your metadata ready, you can lose out on that opportunity, no matter how good your music is.
Things to include in your metadata:
- Title
- Artist
- Album
- Track
- Comments
- Compilation
- Composer*
- Disc
- Genre
- Grouping*
- Year
- BPM
* Composer & grouping need to include the splits (the percentage of rights held by each rights-holder)
the format should look something similar to this:
Name (rights holder %) performing rights society (if applicable) / Repeat for other rights-holders.
The additional MP3 Metadata section is optional, but if you have that information add it in – the more the merrier!
